This is because, not having a family of their own, they pay undivided attention to the public. But men with children should have a greater person interest in making the society better because their children would be getting the benefit of it in the future.    People Guided by Self-interest alone, in Wanting to Remain Single:  Self-interest guides those people who are indifferent to the future because they themselves would not be there.  Some men regard  wife and children as financial liabilities to avoided. Other foolish and greedy men pride themselves upon the fact that they have no children. They feel that they would be thought richer by others, if they had no children on whom they had to spend more.    But the most common reason for remaining single is that these men value their freedom to such extent that they even regard their girdles and belts to be restraints in their freedom.    Advantages and Disadvantages of a Single Man:  Single Man prove to be best friend, better masters and servants. But they are not always good citizens, as being rootless and without responsibility, they find it easy to leave the country.    Marriage and Different professions:  It is better for clergyman to remain single. If he has a family, more of his attention and affection will go to it and he cannot be expected to give undivided attention to his parishoners or people.    It is immaterial whether a judge is married or not. If he is corrupt, he can employ an agent through whom he can accept bribes. These agents can be much worse than a wife. Categories of Husbands and Wives:  Men of serious bent of mind usually follow conversations and are steady in their love for their wives as Ulysses was.    Chaste wives are proud of their chastity and this makes them over-bearing. If a wife thinks her husband to be wise, she will be loyal and obedient to him. If a husband is jealous, his wife will not think him to be wise and she will not respect him.    Marriage at Different Stages of Life:  In youth, wives are the object of romantic love; in middle age she is valued for her companionship ; in old age she serves as nurse. Thus, a man marring at any age gets an advantage out of it. Yet an ancient Greek Philosopher questions the necessity or propriety of getting married at any age at all.    Bad Husbands and Good Wives:  Bad Husbands often have good wives. This may be because these man show kindness so rarely, that their wives appreciate it all the more when they do show it. Or it may be because a woman who endures a husband's misconduct becomes proud of her patience.    If a girl has chosen her husband against all her well wishers’ advice, she will continue to be unfailingly good just in order to hide her mistake and to justify her choice.
